Stewarding Applications for FolkEast 2025 are now open! Hoorah !

Stewarding at FolkEast

Our Volunteer Stewards are crucial to the success of every FolkEast. They work really hard to ensure our visitors have an enjoyable festival whilst also managing to have a great time themselves. We are blessed with the most fabulous teams and many of our stewards have been with us for years, but we are always looking for new people to help keep everything running smoothly.

In exchange for a four hour shift each day you will be able to enjoy everything that FolkEast has to offer, with the added benefit of feeling more involved whilst getting to know a wonderful bunch of people. It really is an excellent way to experience our festival.

This is the first year at our beautiful new site at Sotterley so it's a great time to join us. We will all be beginners again to some extent!

What will I be asked to do?

We try and place volunteers in a position that is suited to their interests and skills base, so please tell us plenty about yourself on the application form.

The wide variety of tasks that our Stewards help with include:

  • Welcoming visitors and checking wristbands at entry points to the festival site.

  • Supporting festival goers in the arena

  • Assisting venue staff with the smooth running of performances

  • Directing traffic in the car park

  • Supporting campers on the campsites

  • Assisting with the management of artist and crew areas

  • Keeping the site clean and tidy.

  • Helping In the Box Office

A four hour shift entitles you to free access to the festival on the days that you are volunteering. We ask for a minimum three-day commitment but hope that you will be able to make yourself available over the whole festival.

NB FolkEast commences on Thursday, the 14th of August for our weekend campers and we will need some of our stewarding teams to be up and running by then.

Not yet convinced? Here's what our 2024 stewards said about their experience:

We had the most fantastic time, even surpassing our expectations, and we would love to come back to Steward next year.

As a first timer, I thoroughly enjoyed my time stewarding at FolkEast. I met so many lovely people, everyone was friendly and welcoming and those who had been before were supportive and helpful in the roles I carried out over the weekend…

We felt really supported as volunteers and it was great fun.

We had a wonderful few days, it was so well organised, thank you.

As for the people and the vibe and the loveliness it was AMAZING! Thank you.

The Small Print

Applications will close at midday on June 29th 2025.

You will receive an email on receipt of your application, with further information to follow.

Places are allocated on a first come, first served basis, with priority given to previous volunteers. Please don't delay getting in touch! We anticipate that this year all our places will be filled before the closing date and we don't want you to be disappointed!

Please note: dogs are not permitted at FolkEast unless they are registered assistance dogs and they will need to be booked in with our accessibility coordinator and proof of registration provided.
