Instrumental

Instrumental is FolkEast’s celebration of musical instrument makers from across the UK and further afield. You’ll find makers of bagpipes, woodwind, hurdy-gurdies, guitars and everything else in-between. Come and meet the makers with an opportunity to try out and purchase your next instrument.

There will be scheduled tune sessions in the Instrumental area. A timetable for these will be on a blackboard each day – check in to find out when there’s something for you to join in with. There’ll also be sessions in one of the pubs each evening – pop along to the Information Tent to find out more about these.

We’ll be joined by the makers below – hover over their names to discover what they’ll be exhibiting and to visit their websites.

We’re delighted to welcome back the East Anglian Traditional Music Trust – a charity celebrating the Traditional Music, Song, Dance and Customs of East Anglia through research and projects to preserve and re-invigorate the traditions of the past. They’ll have lots of information about how to get involved in their work, as well as instruments to try (they have a hire scheme if you’re local and have, for example, always wanted to give melodeon a go!).

EATMT will also be launching a new scheme in collaboration with Youth Moot for 18 – 25-year-olds, working on a project about Vaughan Williams’ folksong collecting in East Anglia.
