Our Mission
We are continuously working to improve our support for all visible and hidden disabilities. It’s not all perfect, but we are committed to improving every year.
How to find information about Accessibility and Disability support at FolkEast
You can find lots of information on this page. If you prefer, you can download our Printable PDF with the same information. You can email our Accessibility Co-ordinator at philippa.folkeast@gmail.com
At the festival, you can visit the Infolk tent for up to date information, or to speak to a volunteer steward.
Ground Conditions
The festival takes place on grass farmland, which is mown for hay in early summer. We will mow lanes in the campsites and walking routes. There may be areas of longer grass and uneven surfaces. The land includes gentle slopes, paths with various surfaces. We believe everywhere is accessible; sometimes there will be an accessible diversion route. We recommend all terrain or robust wheelchairs and mobility scooters.
Toilets & Showers
There are accessible toilets at each toilet block. You may bypass the general queue if you need to access the disabled toilet. We try to encourage other festivalgoers to leave the disabled toilets free.
We are not able to provide accessible showers yet. You are welcome to use the standard showers on the main campsite, but these do involve several steps.
Accessible Parking
Accessible/ Blue Badge parking is available in the main day parking area, near the box office entrance. Follow the AA Day Parking signs and display your Blue Badge.
It’s a ten minute walk from the car park to the arena, through our Woodland Walk, which is fully accessible with several resting places.
An additional parking area is available in the weekend accessible campsite, by prior arrangement only.
You may also apply for an accessible parking pass if you don’t have a blue badge, by emailing philippa.folkeast@gmail.com
Disability Support
All our volunteer Stewards have disability awareness included in their training, so do please ask any of them for help if you need information or to report a problem. We are sorry that we cannot offer personal assistance, however carers are very welcome with a free companion ticket. See Assistance Concessions section for details of how to apply.
Information Tent
The Infolk tent can help with your queries about facilities and support and you can also leave feedback there. We welcome all constructive input to help us improve the festival.
Medical Assistance
Our on-site First Aid is provided by Medicare, staffed with qualified paramedics throughout the festival, 24 hours. They can be found near the Campsite Gate into the Arena. If appropriate, please introduce yourself to the team.
Assistance Concessions
If you need personal care or support, we offer complimentary Companion Tickets for your companion/ carer. You are automatically eligible for these if you can provide a copy of one of the following, showing the most recent date and current eligibility:
Front page of DLA/PIP
Front page of Attendance Allowance
Evidence of severe sight impairment (Bling Registration)
Recognised Assistance Dog ID card
We may provide a companion ticket in other exceptional circumstances. Please email philippa.fokeast@gmail.com to enquire.
Dogs
No dogs or other pets are allowed anywhere on the FolkEast site. The only exception is for Registered companion dogs, which must be arranged in advance and authorised by the Accessibility Co-ordinator. Please email philippa.folkeast@gmail.com
Authorised companion dogs or their owner will carry FolkEast authorisation while at the festival.
Accessible Camping
We have an allocated area for Accessible camping, adjacent to the main weekend campsite and near the box office entrance to the arena. The access is via the Weekend Camping entrance to the festival site, which is clearly signed on approach roads.
There are disabled and standard toilets, but no shower at present. You are free to use the standard showers on the main campsite.
Water is available nearby and there is access to chemical waste disposal.
A covered charging point for mobility scooters is available on the campsite.
There is a small team of Stewards on the Accessible campsite who are happy to help but they may not be in constant attendance. There are other stewards available nearby if needed. Stewards are not able to offer personal care. We strongly recommend you have a personal assistant if you need help getting about the festival site and using the facilities.
Places are limited to two pitches per application to allow for a carer/ companion. We cannot accommodate additional family/ friend pitches. Limited capacity means the Accessible campsite is only available by booking in advance via the Accessibility Co-ordinator philippa.folkeast@gmail.com .
You will then need to book and pay for each camping pitch online, along with your other tickets.
