FolkEast would like to thank the East Suffolk Lines Community Rail Partnership for their support in providing a second bus this year so we can offer a FREE service from Wickham Market Station to and from the festival site over the weekend.
The East Suffolk Lines Community Rail Partnership is an association of local authorities, community groups, Network Rail and rail operator, Abellio Greater Anglia which support and encourage use of the railways running between Ipswich and Lowestoft and Ipswich and Felixstowe. The Ipswich to Lowestoft line marks fifty years in 2016 since it was reprieved from full closure as recommended in the notorious Beeching Report. Use of the line has rocketed by 99% since the introduction of a Mon-Sat hourly service, with additional trains also added on Sunday’s to help cope with demand.
Congratulations and a Happy 50th Birthday from all of us at FolkEast !
In celebration of working together, the 2016 FolkEast Launch began with a musical train journey from Ipswich to Wickham Market with The Young’uns , John Spiers , John Ward , The Broadside Boys, Mathew Crampton and Luke Jackson playing and singing on the East Suffolk Line with kind permission from Abellio Greater Anglia. What a way to travel!
