2020 will be a year to remember for all of us.

When our worlds turned upside down and we had to find a new normal to attach our lives to.

Amidst all of the loss and uncertainity of the COVID-19 craziness there has been unparalleled bravery, kindness and generosity.

We would like to thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for your support which has thrown FolkEast a life line and helped her to stay afloat.

For us, 2020 will always be the year when we learnt how much the festival means to so many people and we will never forget it.

Thank you again.

The Announcement we had hoped not to make ….

This is the announcement that we had hoped not to make. We are sure it will come as no surprise to you that we have made the difficult decision to officially postpone FolkEast until 2021.

Although this is really disappointing for all of us, we know that it is the right thing to do in light of the uncertainty surrounding Covid-19. The restrictions on large gatherings look likely to be in place throughout the summer and it’s clear that we’ll have to continue social distancing in one form or another for some time to come. The health and safety of everyone involved has to take precedence over anything else.

We’ve spent the last week talking to the incredible team involved in making FolkEast the special festival it is – to Glemham Hall and to all our volunteers, crew,  technicians, stall holders, makers, artists, agents, musicians, singers, programmers, dancers, bar workers –  so that they were aware of the situation in advance of this announcement. They all agree that postponing the festival is the only responsible option, and we would like to express our thanks to everyone involved for their continued support and commitment to the festival and for all the heartfelt feedback we have received.

However, the good news is that over the past month we have been working alongside our artists and their agents to ensure that the majority of this year’s line-up will be returning to the Glemham Hall Estate next year. Acts including Afro Celt Sound System, Kris Drever, Elephant Sessions and The Young’uns have already committed to making 2021 the best FolkEast ever.

Everyone is saddened that FolkEast is not going ahead this year, but it is now a relief that the decision has been made and we can look forward to making next year’s event as outstanding as this year’s was going to be.

We look forward to seeing you at

FolkEast 2021

20th, 21st and 22nd August

Glemham Hall,Suffolk

Say safe and happy until then and we will see you in 2021.

Tickets and Crowdfunding

All of the tickets so far purchased for 2020 will transfer automatically over to August next year. As with a lot of festivals, we rely heavily on the advance ticket revenue to provide the cash flow needed to plan and run the event during the year. By retaining your ticket, you’ll be directly supporting and securing the festival for 2021. If you are able to retain it, your first drink at FolkEast next year will be on us! If you require a refund, please contact us directly so we can arrange it for you. becky@folkeast.co.uk

The Future and how you can help

We are proud to be a totally independent festival but this comes with its own challenges and with your help and support we will not only secure FolkEast in 2021 but also the long term future of the festival.

The crisis we’re all facing at the moment has shown us how precious it is to have the freedom to be able to come together and to share experiences. As festival organisers it is a privilege to be able to make this happen and we’re determined more than ever to make sure that FolkEast is around for many years to come.

We are running a campaign to raise funds to secure the  future of the festival which in turn, will help us to support all the small local businesses, food and drink providers, crafts, heritage organisations and individuals as well as the artists, technicians, crew and co-ordinators who we work with over the year, all of whom unite in making FolkEast such a special and unique festival. Having to postpone 2020 will take its toll on many and it’s important to us that we are able to come back together, stronger and more determined in 2021 and beyond.

Please keep your advanced tickets if you can and support and share our Crowdfunder page.
